The scope of CRIA's anti-piracy efforts is wide-ranging:
- Maintaining a Division to enforce the various rights in copyright of its members and to investigate and initiate legal action in response to piracy.
- Lobbying for federal legislation providing for effective anti-piracy protection.
- Participating in anti-piracy programs across Canada and internationally.
- Conducting an anti-piracy awareness program for replication companies in Canada and administering the Source Identification Code (SID) for Canadian CD manufacturers.
- The education of various federal, provincial and local enforcement agencies in the identification of unauthorized sound recordings.
- In association with its international affiliates, CRIA's Anti-Piracy Division monitors internet sites in Canada for unauthorized use of sound recordings.
